TrackDen / Privacy

Privacy policy.

TrackDen is a browser extension. Your library, your playlists, your edits — all of it stays on your device. We don't run a server that sees any of it.

Updated this week · Applies to TrackDen v0.1.3 and later
The short version
  • Your library lives in your browser. Not on our servers — we don't have any.
  • No accounts, no signup. Nothing to register, nothing to sell.
  • Anonymous engagement analytics. We measure things like feature usage and session counts — never your library contents. No track IDs, titles, prices or platform URLs are ever sent to us.
  • Optional Chrome Sync. If you turn it on, Google syncs your library across your devices — through your Chrome account, not us.
  • We do not use third-party services to store, process, or analyse your library.
  • We cannot see your library. Not the developers, not anyone.

What we collect

Inside the extension: anonymous engagement only. TrackDen sends a small amount of anonymous usage data — things like which features get used, session counts, and basic environment info (Chrome vs Firefox version). This helps us see whether new features land. We never send your library contents: no track IDs, no track titles, no artist names, no platform URLs, no prices, no playlist names.

On the marketing site (trackden.org): Google Analytics. We measure basic traffic — page views, referrers, country, browser and device counts. We do not use it to profile individuals. You can opt out of Google Analytics at any time via your browser settings, a privacy-focused ad-blocker, or Google's opt-out add-on.

What stays on your device

Your TrackDen library lives in your browser's local extension storage. That includes:

None of this leaves your browser unless you trigger it — by exporting a CSV, downloading a backup file, or enabling Chrome Sync.

Optional Chrome Sync

If you turn on Sync changes to Google in TrackDen settings and have extension sync enabled on your Google account, your library data is uploaded to Google's sync storage so it can mirror down on your other Chrome devices.

This sync happens between you and Google — TrackDen has no access to the sync data, and we never see what's stored there. Google's handling of sync data is governed by Google's privacy policy.

Sync is off by default. You can turn it off at any time from Settings → Sync.

Third-party services

None for storage, none for analytics on your library. The only third parties involved in TrackDen at all are:

What the extension reads on Bandcamp & Beatport

TrackDen requests permission to read and modify pages on Bandcamp and Beatport because that's how it captures tracks, syncs your cart, and pushes wishlist actions back. It reads only the page content needed for the action you initiated — track titles, prices, URLs, cart contents. It does not exfiltrate anything to us or anyone else.

The full list of permissions is documented on the Install page.

Cookies

The TrackDen extension does not set or use cookies — it runs as a browser extension, not a website.

The marketing site (trackden.org) uses standard Google Analytics cookies for traffic measurement, plus a small cookie to remember your cookie-consent state. No advertising cookies, no fingerprinting, no third-party share buttons that drop their own cookies.

Children's privacy

TrackDen is built for music collectors and DJs, with no profile system and no audience tailored to children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13. If you believe a child has used TrackDen and there's any concern, contact us and we'll help.

Updates to this policy

When this policy changes meaningfully, we'll update the Updated date at the top of the page and surface a banner inside TrackDen on next launch. Material changes that affect what data the extension reads will also be called out in the Changelog.
