Group tracks by album

See any playlist album by album, then play, queue, wishlist or cart a whole release from its header.

Overview

Wishlists fill up with tracks from all over the place. If you buy whole albums, you want to see them album by album, not as one long mixed list. Group by album puts every album’s tracks under a header row, so you can work through a release in one place.

Turning grouping on

  1. Open a playlist (for example Wishlist).
  2. Click the Group by album button (the books icon) in the playlist toolbar. It highlights when grouping is on.
  3. Click it again to go back to a flat list.

Grouping is saved per playlist. Turn it on for your Wishlist and All tracks stays flat. TrackDen remembers your choice after you close the popup.

What the album header shows

Each album gets a header row with:

  • Artwork, title and artist. Compilations show Various Artists.
  • Track count and album price.
  • Platform badge (Bandcamp or Beatport).
  • Status icons. The wishlist, cart and purchased icons turn red when every track in the album is in that state, and a muted red when only some are. Hover an icon to see the count, e.g. 3 of 8 tracks in cart.

Hover any header icon to see what it does.

Order inside a group

  • Albums follow your active sort. Click a column header (Artist, Price, Album, etc.) to reorder the albums.
  • Inside an album, tracks are always in tracklist order (1, 2, 3…), even on compilations.
  • Tracks that don’t belong to an album are collected in a Singles group at the bottom.

Album header actions

ActionWhat it does
Collapse / expand (chevron)Hides or shows the album’s tracks. The header stays visible.
Play albumStarts playback at track 1 and plays through in tracklist order.
Add album to queueAdds the album’s tracks to your queue, in tracklist order.
Add full album to cartAdds the whole album to your cart at the album price, not track by track.
Remove album from cartRemoves the album from your cart.
Add / remove album to wishlistAdds the album to, or removes it from, your Bandcamp wishlist or Beatport hold bin.
Select album tracksTicks every track in the album so you can use the bulk actions on it. Click again to untick.

Album cart and wishlist actions open one album or release page in the background, not one tab per track. Once the action finishes, every track in the group updates its status in TrackDen.

Setting the album price

If TrackDen doesn’t know an album’s price, its header shows a red Set price. Clicking Add full album to cart opens a small price editor instead of the album page:

  1. Type the price (there’s also a Look up on Bandcamp link if you need to check it).
  2. Press Enter or click ✓. The price is saved on every track of the album, then the album is added to your cart.
  3. Press Esc or click ✕ to cancel.

Already have a price but it’s out of date? Click the price in the header to edit it the same way.

FAQs

Why can't I drag tracks while grouping is on?

Drag-to-reorder is turned off while a custom playlist is grouped, because tracks follow tracklist order inside each album. Turn grouping off to reorder.

My collapsed albums opened again after I reopened the popup?

Collapsed albums are only remembered while the popup is open. Grouping itself and your sort are saved.

A wishlisted single track isn't under its album?

Bandcamp only sends the album’s name for some standalone wishlisted tracks, not its link. TrackDen groups those by album name and artwork, and the album cart button stays disabled for them.
